To ensure that a marriage is conducted according to Islamic principles, the following conditions must be met:
1. Consent of the Groom and Bride
Both the groom and bride must freely and willingly agree to the marriage without any form of coercion or pressure.
2. Wali (Guardian) of the Bride
Once the above requirements are met, the following steps will guide you through the marriage process:
1. Schedule an Appointment with the Imam
2. Obtain a Marriage License
The couple must obtain a marriage license from the Bowling Green Vital Statistics office, located in Kentucky.
3. Nikah Ceremony at the Masjid
The Imam will conduct the Nikah ceremony at the Masjid, where the marriage contract will be formally executed.
4. Post-Ceremony Refreshments
Following the marriage ceremony, only light refreshments are allowed to be served at the Masjid.
5. Membership Requirement
To ensure the Imam can officiate your Nikah, both the groom and bride must be members of the Islamic Center. If you are not yet a member, you will need to join before proceeding with the marriage service.
